There was a hearing this morning at the State House relative to House Bill #4447,an Act Reorganizing Certain Agencies of the Executive Department which would attempt among other things to reduce the number of Civil Service Commissioners from 5 to 2.
The BPSOF, BPPA, BFD and MassCop were all in strong opposition to this bill. Our attorney, Leah Barrault did a great job defending the current process and articulating the need to continue with the current deployment of Commissioners to ensure proper attention to the over 300 cases Civil Service annually hears in regards to the approx. 80,000 civil servants in the Commonwealth.
Please speak to your state representatives and senators and stress your displeasure with this bill, which will severely affect your due process rights.
