Thank You

Thank You from the Parolin Family

There are few words to express our appreciation for the tremendous show of support we received during the wake and funeral services for our mother, Ann.  Our family was overwhelmed with the expressions of sympathy and friendship shown to us by the Boston Police Department and the Emergency Medical Services.  There wasn’t a moment without someone offering words of condolences, comfort and friendship to us.

We are honored and proud to be members of the Boston Police Department and the Emergency Medical Services families.

A special thanks to EMS/Special Operations Division and MOP. The respect shown to our mother, and the astounding work of the motorcycle officers who escorted Mom’s hearse to the cemetery, was simply remarkable. There are many people we would like to thank individually through this announcement, but we are afraid we might miss one, so thank you everyone. You know who you are, and so do we. Thank you from the bottom of  our hearts.

Unsafe Working Conditions

To:                              Deputy Superintendent Kelley J. McCormick

                                    Director, Office of Labor Relations

From:                          Mark J. Parolin, Vice-President

                                    Boston Police Superior Officers Federation

Date:                           June 22, 2010

Dear Deputy McCormick,

The Federation is inquiring when sergeant’s training will take place for the most recent promotions.  The Federation has learned that the newly promoted Sergeants have been working by themselves on regular tours and overtime without any training whatsoever.

The Department has created a serious safety issue for Federation Members, Police Officers, prisoners, civilian personnel, and the general public.  The Federation demands that the Department immediately trains these newly promoted Superior Officers and until this takes place the Department at the least has another Supervisor work with them.  The Federation plans to file charges in the appropriate forums, if this safety issue is not immediately resolved.

Since, no training is scheduled the Federation is inquiring whether the Department plans to indemnify these newly promoted Superior Officers.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the Federation office.  Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.
